Avila guidelines Combined rockies Division in 2nd Sugbu Open C’ships

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Joma Avilaone of many rising stars of Sugbuanon Bowlers United (SUGBU), showcased his expertise by capturing the blended rookies title within the 2nd Sugbu Open Championships held on Saturday, July 5, on the SM Seaside Bowling and Leisure Middle.

Avila outplayed fellow SUGBU junior MJ Villa within the stepladder finals of this Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF)-sanctioned nationwide match. The highest-seeded Avila rolled a stable 206 pinfalls to safe the win, whereas Villa settled for second place with 180.

Villa earlier earned a finals berth by defeating third seed Emz Salvador of the Davao Tenpin Bowling Affiliation (DATBA), 212–181.

Additionally making the division’s high finishers was SUGBU’s Flor Hodgkinson.

Through the match on Saturday, Avila emerged as the highest qualifier with 1,180 pinfalls, intently adopted by Villa with 1,173. Salvador ranked third with 1,138, trailed by Metro Cagayan Bowlers Affiliation’s Sophia Martin (1,127) and Hodgkinson (1,087).

He joined fellow SUGBU bowler Nestor Ranido in profitable a title. Ranido dominated the blended seniors masters final Friday.

The annual nationwide match has drawn bowlers from throughout the nation, representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
